By participating in the SCALE prospective pilot study, I understand and agree to the following:
Video access and transfer: Recordings of minimally invasive colorectal procedures that I perform during the study period (4/27 – 5/8/2026) will be accessed by authorized IU study personnel and securely transferred to Purdue University for research purposes. Videos contain no patient or surgeon identifying information.
Peer review of my procedures: My procedure recordings will be assigned to a blinded peer surgeon for review. I will not be informed which colleague reviewed my case.
Review of peer procedures: I may be assigned to review a colleague's procedure recording and provide verbal commentary on surgical quality. My commentary will be audio recorded, transcribed, and processed by an AI system to generate structured feedback. My identity as reviewer will not be disclosed to the operating surgeon.
Identity information: The study team will have access to my name and email address solely for assigning peer reviews and sending platform access links. This information will not be stored in the research dataset. Only pseudonymous participant IDs will appear in any data files or publications.
Voluntary participation: I may withdraw from the study at any time without consequence.
